Cold...cough-cough-sniffle-sniffle

Good morning everyone...
I have not been feeling 100% as of late. It all started in Cancun with a bit of a stuffy nose... nothing big... I still had a great time. Now... it's a full blown head & chest cold! My BFF is into Homeopothy, Naturopath, & Traditional Chinese Medicine. She stopped by yesterday & loaded me up until she can get me my own little stash. What a sweetheart she is! She even called her sister in Utah who is licensed in TCM! I have been using my colodial silver nose spray & drinking lots of Emergen-C like it's going out of style until she drops off more meds.

Growing up with a Polish Gramma it was kinda nice to be sick at her house. She would fix me up on the "devan" in the "parlor" so I could watch TV. She would make homemade chicken soup with Kluski noodles! Gramma would rub my chest & back with Vix Vapor Rub & put warm cloth diapers on me right out of the oven. Then she would make a "Hot Toddie"... tea with lemon, honey & a bit of whiskey! Now, those were the days! You always felt loved at Gramma's house! My Mom still does that! And, I even do that to my husband when he's sick with a cold.

Let me know what your Gramma's & Mother's did for you as a child when you were sick with a cold... I would love to hear from you!

Thank you for stopping by!
Merry Christmas!

Meet Me On Monday

Happy Monday!

I am on the "Meet Me On Monday" blog & here a some questions...

Questions:

1. How do you order your steak?
2. Are you superstitious about anything?
3. Who is your best friend (not including your spouse)?
4. When is the last time your wore a dress (for the guys...a suit)?
5. Do you have any trips scheduled?

1. I am not a big red meat eater & pretty much stay away from it. But, I use to like my steak rare. Just knock it's horns off, wipe it's butt & throw it over the hot flames for a bit.

2. I am not superstitious at all but, I will say, "Knock on wood" just cause I like the saying.

3. My Best Friend is Jenny! She lives 30 minutes from me & we email/text/phone/Facebook everyday... sometimes as much as 5 times a day! She makes me laugh & is always blissfully beaming!

4. The last time I wore a dress was on our Cancun vacation that we just came back from. I wore a dress on Friday! I try to wear a dress whenever we "go out"

5. We just returned from Cancun on Saturday & our next trip maybe in March to visit my husband's daughter & her family.

I hope you enjoyed reading a little bit about me!

Thank you for stopping by!!

Bingo Pajamas! When Good Things Happen!: Emmett & Gummy Bear

Bingo Pajamas! When Good Things Happen!: Emmett & Gummy Bear

Emmett & Gummy Bear

I would like to take a moment to introduce to you the loves of our lives! These are our "fur-babies" Gummy Bear is a 13 year old Yellow Labrador. She was born with out teeth that never came in & has a deformed lower jaw. She doesn't even know & eats regular kibble just like a lab. Emmett is a 5 year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever. He's is my shadow. He has the most facial expressions, I know when he's happy, sad, & calm. He even "talks" when he wants something.

Thank you for stopping by! I love to see you all!

Going on Vacation!

Good morning! Dear Husband & I are going on vacation! We are going to Cancun, Mexico! We went last year with his sister & husband & had the best time! It's what a vacation should be... rest & relaxation! It's an all inclusive resort where you get massages, manicures, pedicures & golf! Last year was my first time ever traveling out of the US... I have never been anyplace exotic & now I am spoiled. These are pictures of the resort we are staying at. This trip could not come at a better time... living south of Buffalo as you may have all ready heard... we are in the mists of a snow storm. We even made the national news! Well, I live in Gowanda which is an hour south of Buffalo & just this morning it started to snow a little. As I get older I am enjoying the idea of living somewhere warm... so, my fellow bloggers I will post vacation pictures when I return in the mean time stay warm & be careful.

Kitchen...

My kitchen by all means it not totally finished but, I had to just show off the finished floor. My Dear Husband worked until midnight three days before my family was coming over to celebrate the Tarpy Thanksgiving. We have a lot more to do such as finishing the walls, trim work & kitchen cabinets. But, in the mean time it serves us well. I don't have a pantry, yet but I did purchase a chrome shelving unit at Lowe's that houses all my stuff! This is a work in progress so, be kind... lol.

Thank you so much for stopping by to see what I've been up to... (((smile)))

Tarpy Thanksgiving

Well, I hosted my family's Thanksgiving at our little "Love Shack" & it was a big hit!! I made the Barefoot Contessa's Roast Turkey with White Truffle Butter & everyone said it was THE best turkey that they ever had! My Mom brought a whole bunch of "to-go" containers so everyone left with their very own left overs!

Thank you for stopping by! Hope your Thanksgiving was as much fun as mine!

New Kitchen Floor

Good morning & Happy Thanksgiving to all! I am so thankful for my Dear Husband (DH) for installing a kitchen floor just in time for Thanksgiving. We opted for the quick & budget friendly method & I am really loving it! DH installed some really thin sub-flooring over the old sub-flooring while he was finishing that up I went to Lowe's to pick out the peal & stick tile flooring. They only had 8 choices so to make my decision easier I picked out the tile that had the most boxes in stock. DH wasn't thrilled with what I picked out but, once he started putting it down I really loved it! It really brightens up my tiny kitchen! We still have a lot more to do in there but, for now I am so thankful!

Thank you for stopping by & Happy Thanksgiving!

It's Been a Long Time...

I am so sorry to say that I have not blogged since March. You get all caught up in your everyday life... work... stress... home... yard... family... bills.... well, you know what I'm talking about.

Our local pharmacy had a Easter hat contest, a first for them. I thought... yeah! Another venue for my hats! So, I took inspiration from my Grandma. She had this blue suit with a blue flowered hat that I always loved. The hat was a pillbox shape & it was almost a robin's egg blue with these flowers all over it. It doesn't sound pretty but, I wish I had a picture to show you. Anyways, I found a baby blue wool sweater that I felted & made rosettes from some vintage satin ribbons & used some tulleling. The hat came out so cute! I then decided to make another one! This pink one I used a vintage lace that I bought & thought it would look cute so, here are my Spring/Summer hats!

New Item!

Angelique is modeling a new item to Bingo Pajamas!. A neck-warmer made from a recycled wool sweater that I added hot pink satin ribbon with some retro buttons. This neck-warmer can be pulled on over the head.

To care for it... hand wash in cold water with Wool-lite, hang to dry.

If you have any questions please feel free to convo me.

New Items I am working on for Valentines!

I am working on a new item... the neck-warmer. I made this from a recycled angora sweater, it slips over your head & I added some colorful beading. The hats are a modified version of my "Jackie O" pillbox. They are both made from recycled wool sweaters. The one I am deciding on trim & the other I am thinking of not adding any embelishments because the sweater I used had some really pretty beading that I incorporated into the hat. I hope you like them. Please let me know of your ideas! Thank you for stopping by! Kristen

Valentine's Hat

Angelique is modeling a beautiful hat made from a much loved wool/angora sweater. The brim has cable knit while the rest of the hat is just a plain knit. I accented the hat from red silk pajamas & then adorned it with a vintage brooch from Paperhill Studios. This hat would make for a lovely Valentine's Day present. This hat is ready to ship.
